Orlando Social Security Disability Attorney > Don Garlits Museum Ocala, Florida

Introduction

It is dedicated to the history of drag racing and includes cars that raced during the 1960s and 1970s. The museum also has displays on other subjects related to motorsports, including motorcycles and bobsleds.

Ocala

As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 57,859. It is the county seat and largest incorporated area in Marion County by total area.

Once or Ocala was an early Spanish mission founded by Franciscan friars near present-day Gainesville on February 2, 1736. The site was abandoned after two years due to fears of attacks from neighboring Seminoles and raids from St Augustine.

A second mission named San Buenaventura de Ocala was established to the east of present-day Ocala at what is now called Black Creek. This site was used until 1740, when it became an agricultural station for missions farther south. In 1763 Franciscans were allowed again to settle east of St Augustine at Timucua (San Juan del Puerto).

The town’s name may have been derived from one of its principal founders: Don Juan Gaetano Zuniga y Meneses, who later changed his name to Don Juan Vincente de la Cerda y Aragonez, Count of Villahermosa y Noreña (known as “Noreña”), Lord of Zaragoza Province and Valtierra City Councilman during King Philip IV reign; however this has not been proven yet.

Florida

The state may be best known for its theme parks, but there’s much more to do in Florida than ride roller coasters all day.

As you’re driving, you’ll notice that signs at major intersections all have the same motif: palm trees and sunshine. It’s no accident the state is famous for its golden beaches, warm weather, and friendly people.

  • The Florida Supreme Court Building: Built-in 1926 by architect Frank Pierce Milburn (who also designed several other buildings on this list), this courthouse is one of the most recognizable buildings in downtown Tallahassee. Each year, graduation ceremonies at Florida State University serve as the stage for graduation ceremonies that draw thousands of people from around town.
  • Stetson University College of Law: Located next door to the Florida State University (FSU) campus, this law school has trained future lawyers since 1900, making it one of America’s oldest continuously operating law schools today.
