Lakefront Park is a great place to spend a sunny afternoon taking in the sights and sounds of Kissimmee, Florida. The park is located at 3001 E. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, just south of Old Town Kissimmee. It’s open daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM (hours are extended during summer).

Located at 201 Lakeview Drive, near downtown, Lakefront Park is an excellent place to enjoy the great outdoors. Located on Lake Toho, this park offers boating, fishing, and swimming opportunities to locals and visitors alike.
From Kissimmee: Take Highway 192 west to Osceola Parkway South until it intersects with Highway 192 (Kissimmee). From Osceola Parkway South, take Highway 192 west towards Kissimmee until you reach Lakefront Parkway. To enter the park from here, turn left on Lakeview Drive and follow the signs for parking adjacent to the beach area or use any of our public accesses located along both sides of Lake Toho.
The Monument of States (also known as the Kissimmee Gateway Monument) is a beautiful tribute to diversity, built by local builders between 1942 and 1948. It’s comprised of more than 150 individual rocks from all 50 states as well as other countries from around the world.
The Monument was created in honor of those who fought in World War II and stood proudly along Lakefront Park at the corner of U.S. 192 (Osceola Parkway) and Country Club Boulevard.
The Monument
The Monument is comprised of more than 150 individual rocks from all 50 states and other countries, ranging in size from one to several tons. Some are polished smooth, and others have been carved into intricate designs by hand or by machine.
The first rock was delivered to the park on October 1st, 1942, as a gift from the residents of Hollywood, Florida, who built it as part of their patriotic celebration at the end of World War II.
Other stones were donated by businesses across Central Florida who donated money and labor in exchange for naming rights: each stone is marked with its donor’s name along with a state seal or emblem representing its origin state.
A beautiful structure that was built piece by piece
The Monument is made up of 150 stones from all 50 states, as well as other countries around the world. The stone was quarried locally and transported to the park via rail car.
The Monument weighs 10 tons and stands 30 feet tall. It was built by local builders between 1942 and 1948 using locally sourced materials and labor donated by area businesses.
The design of this beautiful structure was inspired by a poem written by Katherine Lee Bates in 1893 called “America.” In her poem, she writes: “A mighty fortress is our God / A shield that guards us through the day; / We put our trust in Him, for He has never failed us yet!”
