The SSA has laid down requirements that you must satisfy before you can become qualified to receive disability benefits. When seeking to apply for SSDI benefits, your disability must remain for at least a year.  The Blue Book lists the conditions a person must be to be considered disabled and qualify for disability benefits.

Section 14.09 of the blue book makes provisions for arthritis conditions that you must meet to qualify. However, meeting the conditions in the Blue Book does not guarantee your automatic qualification for disability benefits. This few minutes read will enlighten you on things that can qualify you for your SSDI benefits with arthritis. One thing, however, that you must do before applying for social security disability benefits is to consult a skilled disability lawyer.

What is Arthritis?

If your joint or the tissues around your joint is inflamed, you can be said to have arthritis. There are joints all around the body and so one can have arthritis in any part of the body. You must however be able to satisfy certain requirements.

Qualifying For Social Security Disability Benefits Arthritis

The fact that you have arthritis does not mean that your disability application will be successful. To qualify for Social Security benefits with Arthritis, you must successfully establish the following.

Medical Requirements For Receiving Social Security Disability Arthritis Benefits

In arthritis cases, the SSA will decide on the severity of your disability and your eligibility for the benefits after 3 months of receiving medical treatment. After 3 months, the SSA will assess your case and reach its conclusion. Amongst other things, they will determine the severity of your disability. If your disability allows you to physically work and go on with basic activities, you will be deemed ineligible for the disability benefit.

You must have swelling and severe pain and your actions must be unbearable.

Financial Requirements For Receiving Social Security Disability Arthritis Benefits

The Social Security Administration will determine if you can work and be gainfully employed. One is said to be gainfully employed if one earns at least $1,350 monthly. Where this is so, you will not be qualified for the Social Security benefits.

Also, you must have sufficient work credits to qualify for disability benefits.

Provide Necessary Medical Evidence

The crux of your disability process is your alleged disability. During your application process, one of the vital things you must show is evidence of arthritis. Failure to do this will only get your disability application disqualified. Strong medical evidence comes in here. You must attach to your disability application, every vital medical record of your condition.

There may be several medical reports but not all are vital and are needed in your disability application. The SSA will require medical reports that directly show the diagnosis of arthritis. You can communicate with your doctor to help you obtain the particular report you need. If there are medical reports that show establish your inability to continue with your normal physical activities, do well to provide them too.

A qualified and experienced disability lawyer knows the needed medical report for your disability application and can communicate with your doctor(s) to obtain them.

Medical-Vocational Allowance With Arthritis

You can obtain disability benefits through a medical-vocational allowance. The SSA uses the Residual Function Capacity (RFC), age, etc to determine whether one qualifies for the medical-vocational allowance. Here, arthritis may not have disabled you completely to the extent that you are unable to do any work. However, it leaves you physically unable to perform your previous work effectively or prevents you from continuing with it. In such a situation, you may be granted a medical-vocational allowance.
